LENT
The season that draws us closer to God has begun. Ash Wednesday heralds the commencement of Lent, a solemn season of reflection and spiritual renewal. As the ashes were imposed on Ash Wednesday, we were all invited to embrace themes of repentance, mortality, and the longing to return to our Creator. Key scriptures illuminate this journey: Joel 2:12-13 calls us to "rend your hearts and not your garments," urging genuine contrition; Psalm 51 fervently cries out, "Create in me a clean heart," highlighting our desire for divine purification; and Matthew 6:1-18 teaches the sacred practice of fasting and prayer in humility and secrecy. Together, these passages remind us to humble ourselves before God, seeking His mercy and grace as we embark on this sacred season.
